I want to make the location bar much smaller and the search bar much bigger (I still want them to use the entire width of the toolbar). I read elsewhere in the forums that you can change the size of the bar by going to CUSTOMIZE and once the cursor changes to a re-size cursor, simply click and drag. However, that only worked for me with previous versions of Firefox. Since I've had to upgrade, the cursor remains a hand and never changes to the re-size arrow.

Chosen solution

No, you do not have to go to customize mode.
You need to do this in normal mode and place the mouse pointer between the two bars.
