My home page should be my.yahoo.com Instead it comes up with Google search page. Thia problem just started happening several days ago.

Chosen solution

By the way, is it the built-in Firefox home page (has special Firefox buttons along the bottom) or does the address bar show an address on google.com (or other Google site)?

After start-up, can you see that the setting was changed, or is it the same and was ignored?

If it was changed, check for a user.js file as described in this article: How to fix preferences that won't save.

If it was ignored, check for:

  • A specific page added to the shortcut you use to start Firefox: right-click the icon > Properties > Shortcut tab > "Target" line. It should end with firefox.exe" and not list a URL after it.
  • An extension overriding Firefox's normal behavior. Not sure what extension would suggest using Google, they usually suggest other things, but you can review them on the Add-ons page. Either Ctrl+Shift+a or orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons, then in the left column, click Extensions. Anything unrecognized or particularly Googlish?
