I have two questions, 1. If I open 3 to 4 tabs, the browser takes more memory. 2. Even in single tab if I watch a video , browser and flash player takes entire memory and the browser hangs. So I am unable to watch any video. My Laptop have 6 GB ram with i3 processor with 110 GB free space. What should I do to resolve the problem?

Hello Rbala1, yes it is correct behaviour when open new tabs to increase memory, it is not correct with 6 GB ram when you watch video to eat all of it, and hangs.

see if the next helps :

1.Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in firefox. You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

Then perform these steps:

  • Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
  • In the Firefox options window click the Advanced tab, then select "General".
  • In the settings list, you should find the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
  • Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

2.Disable hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See this article for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).

To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:

  1. Go to this Adobe Flash Player Help page.
  2. Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
  3. Click on Settings in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
  4. Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel.

The image "fpSettings1.PNG" does not exist.
  5. Remove the check mark from Enable hardware acceleration.
  6. Click Close to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
  7. Restart Firefox.

This Flash Player Help - Display Settings page has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.

3.Disable Flash protected mode by following the instructions on these pages:

(See this Adobe blog post for technical details about Flash protected mode.)

Please tell us if this helped!

Hi, Thank you for your reply. I did this already. But still it hangs even if there is only one open tab. Another Problem I have been having is, even if I quit firefox, it occupies memory and shows it active at the top of the list in the task manager-> Process. Unable to kill the process too. So every time I have log out and log in .
