how do I get it to ask for a password?

We set up Thunderbird yesterday for work e-mails. It asked for a password which I could only guess at and it was incorrect. I finally found the password today but now I can't get Thunderbird to ask for it. It only opens blank folders for the e-mail addresses where we would be receiving e-mails.
