I can open an attachment but it loads empty- if I use another browser I can see the document.
I am no longer able to view any document attachments. It used to work just fine. Now it opens it like normal but the document is not visible. I have to use a different browser to open attachment documents, so that is very inconvenient.

Go to about:support and click Reset Firefox... . This should resolve your problem, but make sure that you connected your sync account so you don't lose any bookmarks or add ons.

Are there particular kinds of attachments, such as PDFs, that have the problem, or everything?
If it's Yahoo, some users have discovered they cannot open attachments properly using an old bookmarked address or old home page, because Yahoo doesn't redirect them to the most updated server. Try accessing mail through the Yahoo home page (or your AT&T Yahoo home page) instead to see whether that makes a difference.
