I have 3 email accounts on Thunderbird, Verizon, Yahoo and Gmail. I was having trouble with the Verizon account so I deleted it thinking I would set it up again in case any parameters had changed. Now I can't set it up. Thunderbird asks if the user name and password are correct. I can access my email on Verizon's web site and on my tablet so the user name and password are correct. The problem seems to be with thunderbird. Any ideas?

what are the settings? I recall there being new account setting at Verizon in the recent past. Something about port numbers

This is exactly what I did. I also went to Verizon's web site and checked the server settings and tried to manually set up the account. I checked the settings on my tablet and they are the same as the settings in thunderbird. My tablet account works fine but thunderbird doesn't.

Sorry for the delay in replying Matt. You were correct, the server settings are different from the ones Thunderbird automatically uses. For anyone with the same problem the incoming settings are : 'incoming.yahoo.verizon.net', port 995, ssl/tsl. The outgoing settings are : 'outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net', port 465, ssl/tsl. Thanks again. Paul Clarke
