email account missing from thunderbird...
Hi there,
Need some help, I work for a backpackers hostel in New Zealand. This morning when we started up the computer and opened thunderbird, our main email account was missing with no explanation. Can't understand why.
All folders and emails attached to this account were missing as well and we would like to know how to fix this issue. We have tried re-adding the email address to thunderbird but for some reason it told us it could not be configured because the email address or password were incorrect (we had changed the password 10 minutes prior to trying this, so we know all the details were correct).
Does anyone have any help on this issue? Can't seem to understand why the account was there yesterday with all our folders and now it's gone.
Cheers

Just like to add that we've now found that all of our contacts are gone and all folders have been deleted. All our tags for emails have been removed and we need this issue resolved as quickly as possible if we can.
Cheers
Does anything in this article look relevant to your situation?
Please check to see if you have more than one profile.
Make hidden files and folders visible;
In Thunderbird Help > TRoubleshooting Information clickon 'Show Folder' button
This should open a new window showing the contents of the profile that Thunderbird was using. In the directory click on the 'profile' - see image and view the drop down. In my example, there is only one xxxxxxxx.default profile folder name and I'm open on that profile. The X's will be numbers and letters.
Do you have more than one profile folder name? If yes, it sounds like thunderbird could not locate the other profile for some unknown reason and so created a new one. Make a note of the other profile folder name. Select that other profile folder name. If POP click on 'Mail' folder. If IMAP click on 'ImapMail' folder. Can you see the name of your mail account? click on mail account name do you see files that have same name as your missing folders? If yes: Close Thunderbird - this is important.
Start up the Profile Manager. See info at link below; there is also some info on how to create a shortcut
When Profile manager opens, it is likely to be selecting the current profile which does not have your mail account. select the other profile Select 'Use the selected profile without asking at startup' click on 'start thunderbird'.
Don't think my reply was posted.
Not sure if this is going to help, I've had a look through the articles posted and doesn't seem to be what my problem is, we've have 2 email accounts linked through Thunderbird and one of them is still there with emails and folders, but our main one with the contacts is the one that is missing.
The context of the articles is a little complex to understand but I'm having another read through to see if I can find anything that will help.
Not sure if it's relevant but we've now encountered another issue with Mozilla. After logging on the computer this morning, all of our bookmarks and history for firefox is missing. Looks like the browser has been re-installed on the computer.
Not quite sure what's going on but we do need this fixed.
Starting to think I'm going mad.
have you check the information in my previous comment.
How many Profiles do you have?
When you click on 'Mail' (or 'ImapMail' if imap) what mail accounts are listed?
