Win XP, SP3; Firefox 39

When I close Firefox, I get a message that it has crashed due to a Breakpoint error. I am then asked to send in a crash report, but when I try the report fails. I am given a choice of exiting Firefox or reopening it. If I exit, and try to restart later, Firefox won't show on my screen, It may be running somewhere, but it doesn't come up. At the same time, my control+alt+delete is gone. so I can't check to see if Firefox is running but not showing.

This persists after the first closure until the computer is rebooted.

The problem started I believe when I downloaded and installed a program called SUMo, but I have removed it from my computer with Advanced Uninstaller Pro.

If I can, I will try to do a screenshot of the Breakpoint message that I receive when Firefox closes.

Does this only happen when you close Firefox?

Use "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit) to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox title bar.

Are you using "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear any personal data?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Only happens when I close Firefox with the X. I haven't tried to close it any other way.

I'll try File/Exit.

I have Firefox set to clear history on close, and to clear cookies as well.

If you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear Cookies then try to exclude the cookies and instead let the cookies expire when Firefox is closed to make them session cookies.

When you clear cookies this way then Firefox will also try to clear cookies created by plugins like the Flash local storage and this requires to launch plugin-container processes for each plugin.
