I have one stubborn advertiser that spams my email with different products and services. For whatever reason, the program does not automatically find and move to the junk folder. However, I wish to list in a filter the known IP address of the source of all these adds. Filtering the recipients name is not enough because they change on a regular basis, but the IP address is the same on all emails. I have read in similar posts that your super-duper spam filter that learns to recognize spam and deal with them is the best option. Either I'm not teaching the filter to do it's job or it's only looking at the spoof return addresses instead of the IP address. In any event, why not have an option in the filter drop down list to include the option to filter an IP address? How hard could that be?

You can create custom header definitions in the Message Filters tool. So you can filter on just about any component of the message header.

Falling that, you can search on the entire header, which isn't efficient but is simpler to set up.

You may find the FiltaQuilla addon useful for its enhancements for message filters.

The built-in Junk Controls look mainly at the message text, and work by awarding scores to words that appear and their correlation with what you teach it is ham vs what is spam. It doesn't pay attention to sender email addresses as these are generally spoofed and hence untrustworthy.

You have an unusual spammer who is so consistent in using a single server, let alone an unchanging IP address.
