Save .pdf file as freezing browser
Copy and paste freezes Firefox when pasting into windows explorer. Copy and paste works when pasting into notepad, word, etc. But when trying to paste the text into windows explorer it freezes the browser. Tried to see if same problem persists on other computers and it happens repeatedly. I don't think it's an add on or extension problem. If you type the text into windows explorer it will save as whatever type of file you want to save it as, usually a .pdf
The workstations are running windows 7 professional 64-bit

What are you pasting? Just text, or what?
Copy from one browser to a text editor. Then copy to the other browser.
I'm just copying any text from any webpage on firefox. Then i click file tab, print and choose adobe .pdf or microsoft xps document writer. Firefox will prompt me to name the the text as a file so when I try to paste the text i just copied from the webpage into the file name of windows explorer Firefox freezes immediately. But if i write the name of the file or text i want into the file name it will save it as whatever file extension i want to save it as and i can print. Essentially copy and paste into windows explorer freezes firefox. but it works when i paste into notepad or word.
Maybe this is microsoft screwing around with firefox so people can start using IE 11 or edge haha.

You can't paste selected text when you use "Save File as" to save this text to a file.
You would have to print the text to a PDF printer via File > Print (Ctrl+P).

Sometimes, text on a web page is not text. Try this out;
Copy As Plain Text {web link} Removes formatting from copied text.
Well I'll try to put that add-on when I'm at the office on Monday. I tried it at home, I'm running Firefox on Windows 10 64 bit operating system and it works fine here.
Neither of those add-ons work. I'll try and image a computer using 32-bit so I get 32-bit Firefox to see if that works. Copy and paste worked at my house using windows 10 64-bit.
I'm still not sure if I understand what you are trying to do.
Can you describe all of the steps with details?
What text are you copying to the clipboard that you want to paste?
Is that text that you see on a web page or some other text?
Do you mean Windows Explorer (file manager) or Internet Explorer (browser)?
Pasting text in Windows Explorer would make much sense for me.
Yes, when i copy text from say wikipedia article and try to paste that text into file name of windows explorer it freezes firefox. So I included a picture. I highlighted the text Breaking news, sports, tv right under BBC URL. then i copy that text, go to file, click print, then firefox asks me where to print. I chose adobe pdf or microsoft xps default printer becuase I need to save it. I chose adobe pdf then windows explorer pops up and in the file name to name the file i try to paste the text and everytime i paste it firefox freezes. If i type into the file name then save it saves it. I tried to do it on 10 machines and it happens on all the machines. Every machine is running windows 7 64bit firefox 24.8.1 ESR (we have to use that verison). And tried it with the latest firefox jupdate and it still has same problem.
So, I installed 32 bit windows 7, (without all the windows update) and it worked! So there is definitely a bug within Firefox on Windows 7 64-bit machine! Guess I'll have to roll out 32 bit machines for those users that use Firefox a lot.
The file name field in a save file or print dialog is meant for entering the name of a file and not for saving text. If you have selected text copied to the clipboard and you want to save this text to a file then you need to paste the text in the file editor. Firefox has built-in Scratchpad (Firefox menu button or Tools > Web Developer) to make notes.
