Firefox crashes and so does internet explorer and also chrome at start up. Chrome however works after reintallation, but might crash after a restart. This happend after an update from antivirus software (avast and avg) both demanded a reboot of the computer. I have desabled the antivirus and reinstalled the browser (latest version), but it still crashes.

I think I solved the problem!

It seems to be the new version of "avg protection: zen",that is messing with all the web-browsers, doesn't scan for viruses, closes the network connection, and doesn't repair itself ... So I removed it and it all seems to be working as normal...

Should have known that avg was problem since all the headache began after it updated.

Thanks for all the help!

We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing when you open it. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.

  1. On the keyboard, press [Windows] The image "Windows key" does not exist. + [R]. This should bring up a Run window that contains a text field.
  2. In that text field, type %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
  3. From that explorer window, double-click on the Mozilla folder, then double-click on Firefox and then on Crash reports. Double-click on submitted.
  4. Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to View > Arrange Icons by > Modified to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
  5. Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
  6. Paste each ID with bp- into the reply window on the forums.

Thanks in advance!

I don't think that crash report ID was sent to Mozilla. It comes up as "Crash Not Found". Click on that crash report in about:crashes to send it to the Crash Report server.

It could be another program, as you said every browser crashes.

Also, test your modem.

Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe web sites. Is the problem still there?

Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see
