It says it is downloading messages but they don't get to the inbox
When I open Mozilla Thunderbird, it immediately looks for new messages from my webmail and has always done this automatically. In the last 2 days, it is not downloading messages. It says it is downloading 1 of 5 new messages, but just stops and no message ends up in my inbox. I can check the messages in my webmail account, and there are certainly new messages there to donwload, but for some reason Mozilla thunderbird aborts the download.

Your anti virus does not scan mail in web mail, and if it does it is as you display each email. Anti virus programs however do interfere with Thunderbird, just at the point you get the message aboutho many email your going to get. Disable email scanning, reboot and try again. Any better?
