I clicked right clicked on the website icon and said menu bar and the icon and star dissappeared. I could not undo this step. How do I get these icons back on the top right side.

I think it moved to the graphical application menu -- the one that appears when you click the "3-bar" menu button -- instead of the menu bar. If you see it there and right-click, one option should be "Move to Toolbar". However, that doesn't let you move it to your preferred location on the toolbar. For that, please see the previous suggestion about using the Customize feature.

For the bookmarks button - open the 3-bar menu > Customize, and if you can see it, simply drag it to a toolbar and the location of your choice, then Exit Customize to save. If the button isn't there, try clicking on Restore Defaults.

For the menu/bookmarks bar - whilst in Customize mode (as above), click on Show/Hide Toolbars and select as required. Exit Customize to save.

More here - Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.

If you right-click a toolbar item in normal (non-customize) mode then you can remove this item from the toolbar.

  • "Remove from Toolbar" will remove this item from the Navigation Toolbar and moves it to the Customize palette ("3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize)
  • "Move to Menu" will move this item to the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list
  • "Move to Toolbar" in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list will move this item to the toolbar
