Why has Firefox deleted my adblocker and my bookmarks tool under the link box?

When I opened Firefox, I was greeted with a message saying something about continuing with 'Safe mode'. The other button was 'Refresh Firefox' I clicked that thinking it was just lagging and needed to be refreshed but it said that it would delete all of my bookmarks. Of course I didn't want to delete all of my bookmarks so I clicked the safe mode button. It opened Firefox and my little bar with the folders had gone. I don't remember it saying it would delete some of my stuff on Safe mode. What is safe mode anyway? I pushed the bar thing aside, saw it hadn't deleted my New Tab page, went on YouTube and I saw an ad. I have Adblocker,I shouldn't be seeing ads! But it deleted that too...How can I get it back the way it was? I don't want to have to change to my buggy Chrome browser! Here is (hopefully) an image of where my toolbar thing used to be: I hope there is a way to fix it or if it was an update how to change it? It isn't hard to get Adblock back, I'm trying to add it on while whining about this but it isn't working, it isn't doing anything and won't show up. I would also like my folders back if it is possible!

Thanks!

hi, from the questions it sounds that you are browing in safemode (which temporarily disables addon and changes the interface back to its default state). just close firefox and restart it to get back to normal browsing mode...

Sorry I personally think we tend to promote the Refresh|Reset rather too aggressively.

I think if for instance you do not use Firefox for along while, or it is reported as being slow to start up you are nagged to Refresh. And if you try SafeMode you get offered a Refresh.

One of the main things the refresh does is remove your Addons .

As for your bookmarks disappearing. Or the folders I am not sure what happened. Or what the folders are that you are referring to.

Meanwhile if you want to try to get bookmarks back have a look at a this similar question thread:

.... As long a you have the old profiles safe you will be able to get the bookmarks back. If you did a firefox Refresh a copy of the old profile should be on the desktop. To find your current profile Find your current profile. Then close Firefox. Find the original profile or a copy of it. Copy the original file places.sqlite and use that to replace the places.sqlite in the current profile. Open Firefox again and it will have the bookmarks and History from the previous profile.

Please try that and post back to say how you get on.
