When I upload a large attachment with box it indicates an uploading, but stays for ever in this state.
I upload an attachment of 5.8 MB size by using the Box service. I press link button and observe the file is uploaded. But it stays in this state for at least 5 minutes, and my upload rate is 1.5 Mb/sec.

Support for box.com is broken in Thunderbird 38. It will be fixed in the next major update to be released very soon. In the mean time you can use Dropbox instead. You'd have to install this add-on. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/dropbox-for-filelink
