While you are at it Google the difference between an email provider and email client software. Thunderbird is the latter.

I don't know what the correct configuration. Isn't my email account provider mozilla? this is where I'm supposed to get the correct information
oh, I see. it says mail.lachiripada.com like it always has.
You'll need to check with your email provider about the correct server settings. Neither Thunderbird nor Mozilla is your email provider.
so I don't think it was that. I'd really like some help from mozilla on this. This is no small potatoes to have our company email down.
Your email is not down. Use your providers webmail page to check your mail.

Please go through the troubleshooting steps provided above. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1130288#answer-895267
Fyi, Thunderbird isn't a Mozilla product (anymore), it is now a community project. The same goes for providing support in this forum. People answering questions here are mostly volunteers dedicating their time to help other users.
Thanks for the info. I think we'll be switching email providers. Thanks for all of the volunteerism.

This I gathered through all of the non-condescending volunteers. Which is why I also gathered that the problem was also my providers problem and I got in touch with them. This has been fun, but I better go mark this as solved.
Quoting from the support article posted above: "Check the service status of your ISP. (Many ISPs have a status or alert page on their website.) They may be having technical difficulties."
Glad you followed the instructions.
