Firefox brings me to www.international.nytimes.com instead of www.nytimes.com

Please try flushing your DNS on your computer.

The Domain Name System (DNS) is the service responsible for converting your URLs to IP addresses that will point your computer to the correct server for that website. The IP addresses are saved to your system with the corresponding domain name so that the system doesn't need to send a request to the DNS each time you enter a URL.

In some cases, this saved information can become invalid and may start to direct your computer to the wrong web server to may even bring up Page not found errors. Flushing your DNS will delete the saved list of IP addresses and force your computer to rebuild the list, likely correcting any previous errors in the list.

First, there is no "run as administrator" when right clicking at the command prompt. (I think I once configured the computer to allow administrator rights, but can't really recall) In any case, when I enter the string I am told that "dns is successfully flushed" (no "?" appears). However, I am still brought to the wrong website, so this fix did not work. Just in case you are curious, I am running Webroot, but I don't expect that this is a malware issue in any case

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu, choose History, and then "Clear Recent History...".
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the "Clear Now" button.

Initially, the cookie clearing fix worked. However, when I rebooted the computer, I was back to "international.nytimes.com"!
