network profiler reports that the first "GET" request is stuck at in a "blocked" state
when firefox is started, page does not load. network profiler, under "timing" tab, reports that the first "GET" request is stuck "blocked" state for extended amount of time, and does not proceed to "DNS resolution". according to the documentation ( https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Tools/Network_Monitor#Timings) , 'blocked" should only occur if the number of persistent connections to the site reaches the defined limit, but this being a first connection, because the browser was just started, this should not be the case. does anyone know of a way to get more details on what the browser is doing during "blocked"? os: Win 10 ff: 54

Sounds like what you are using as your home page has a problem.
Load the web page. Then, to reload the page bypassing the cache and force a fresh retrieval; Ctrl+Shift+R (Mac=Command+Shift+R)

this is not a home page issue. the homepage can be set to blank, and typing address in and hitting enter will result in the same outcome ("blocked" timing). after some time the browser begins to load pages as expected, but that time can be up to a few minutes. the issue sometimes reappears in the middle of a normal browsing session as well. at that point, attempt to access any new page ( in new tabs) will result in the same "blocked" issue.
I don't know whether this affects your environment, but "captive portal detection" might be a factor. See: Turn off captive portal
