Sorry, maybe the article Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks did not adapt automatically to Firefox 57 when you viewed it. You need "Show All Bookmarks" or the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+O.

In the Library window, are all of the menus missing? I'm attaching what I see in Nightly on Windows (I don't have Developer Edition and I don't have Linux...).

Open menu -> Library -> Bookmarks -> Bookmarking Tools -> View Bookmarks Sidebar => and f**king nothing here!!
I'm curious why you open this Library menu via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list and not via its own toolbar button (icon that looks like a bookshelf). Note that there is also a "Show your bookmarks" bookmarks button in the Customize palette.
You need to open the Bookmarks Manager (Library; Show All Bookmarks) window to find the menu items jscher2000 showed above in his screenshot. For some reason its at an inconvenient position at the bottom on the Bookmarks list (there used to be one at the top as well).

It is confusing that they named the Bookmark shelf item Library where this name is also being used for the bookmarks manager.
