How do I get my bookmarks back?
My bookmarks, which were in a column on the left have disappeared. How do I get them back? I followed the instruction about "customizing" and checking the bookmarks, but it doesn't work. Thanks!

A column on the left sounds like the Bookmarks Sidebar. To display the sidebar, you can try one of these methods:
- Ctrl+b (some pages intercept this for "bold" or other uses)
- Sidebars button on the toolbar
- tap Alt to activate the top menu bar > View > Sidebar > Bookmarks
- Bookmarks Menu toolbar button > View Bookmarks Sidebar
That last button -- looks like -- should work the same way as the old bookmarks menu button -- looked like -- which was the "right-half" of the inseparable star+book duo.
To add that button, either:
(A) Use the Customize panel (Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars) to drag the icon to the desired spot on the toolbar
(B) Use the method from Bookmarks in Firefox - section entitled: How do I add the Bookmarks Menu button to the toolbar?
- Click the "Library" button:
- Click "Bookmarks"
- Click "Bookmarking Tools"
- Click "Add Bookmarks Menu to Toolbar"
Does that help, or are your bookmarks missing from the sidebar/menu?

Thank you very much!!! Your very first suggestion worked!
I must have inadvertently pressed Ctrl+b, which made the Bookmarks Sidebar disappear. I now see that pressing Ctrl+b alternately makes the sidebar appear and disappear.
I also knew there's probably an easy "fix" for my dilemma -- I just didn't know it.
Thanks again! Alex
