We have been using Thunderbird for years. Our internet provider, Cableone, now tells us they don't support T-Bird anymore... we cant access our email

"Will no longer support TB" most likely means they won't answer TB-specific questions. But as long as they support POP, IMAP and SMTP services, I see no reason why you can't continue to use TB with Cableone:

You may have to update your settings in TB if they currently use non-secure options.
