I'm using Quicken 2018 Home, Business & Rental Property. I've always used a version of this in some form for over 20 years. Since FF58 Amex transactions will not download into my Quicken using FF -- version 58 was the last one I was able to use without this issue.

Basically, you can view and interact with the website perfectly except when it comes to downloading transactions. Usually you are presented with multiple options; you choose one, click on it, and FF opens a dialogue box for the QFX file to be downloaded into Quicken. Except with the more current versions of FF I'm unable to get any of this to happen. The page is displayed, but all the actions are greyed out.

Amex claims this is a Mozilla/FF issue. I am trying to get through to someone who will investigate, not just give me the party line. Meanwhile, has someone here experienced this problem? I would really rather not have to switch to Edge or Chrome.

Thanks!

I have updated the java & adobe flash programs. Not that they were the main focus of this issue, but because Pkshadow suggested it be done for security purposes.

Meanwhile, I started FF in Safe Mode. Attached is a screenshot of the extensions/add-ons that were disabled:

  • Adblock Plus
  • ColorfulTabs
  • Cookiebro
  • Ghostery
  • iCloud Bookmarks
  • SearchPreview
  • Fireshot
  • WX Download Status Bar
  • Bitdefender Wallet (always disabled)

By enabling the extensions one-by-one, I was able to determine that the culprit is Ghostery. Even though I whitelisted the site to allow it to freely access the website, I was unable to access the downloads properly.

I want to point out that this is the only part of this website that doesn't function properly when Ghostery is enabled. So I guess my options are to remove Ghostery or to disable it if I am using this website.

Oddly enough, this extension has been in place since FF58. But up until the post 58 versions it was not a problem. Obviously something in the subsequent FF versions & Ghostery do not play well with this particular aspect of the Amex website.

Separate Security Issue, please update your Flash 27.0 r0 by removing it with this tool : https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html If you use it Reinstall with Flash Player Version: 30.0.0.134 Current Version https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Step 1: Select Operating System Step 2: Select A Version (Firefox, . . . .) Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only>

Hi, should have yelled sooner ... If you would please : Try Firefox Safe Mode to TEST & see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

SafeMode-Fx35

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.
