Malware Redirect.qip.ru took control of search engine(s) after changing today from BT to Vodafone broadband for my PC. Another user's chat on Mozilla gave me the idea to disable the latest Extension with today's date (the only extension as it happens); this seems to have stopped QIP in its tracks, but I can't be certain it's not just a coincidence. Any advice gratefully received, thanks.

I haven't heard of "DTr3.6"; do you have any additional information on it?

More generally, if you have any extensions you don't recognize, don't remember installing, or no longer need, you should disable or remove them.

Turns out I was right to identify DTr3.6 as malware, later on Firefox picked it out as a threat (taking over search engines) and disabled it. I also ran Windows Defender full scan simultaneously, and this picked out two threats to do with Softonic. More info available if you need it. Problem solved.
