Hi MisterLotospol, I've read in other threads that when you skip ahead, YouTube may show a lower resolution version of the video, at least until it is able to buffer more. I have not heard that it would cause excessive use of system resources, but perhaps that could also be caused by a change in format.
Does it only happen when you skip ahead?
Could you test the following extension, which blocks VP8 & VP9 video, to see whether it makes any difference: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/h264ify/
