Message Filters isn't adding tags

I have a message filter set to apply a tag to specific emails, and when I run the filter all of the correct emails change color, however, it doesn't actually apply the tag, so when I change folders they all go back to default(black text, no tags).

After restarting my PC and thunderbird a few times the tags started staying on the messages.

Now the tags went away again.

I'm using version 68.2.2 on Windows 10.

Is your account IMAP or POP? Tagging is a difficult issue with some MAP servers simply not supporting it, so the tags get synchronized into oblivion.

IMAP through gmail. It's actually 1 particular account that seems to be having the issue, my other accounts seem to be fine. They are all accounts from the same google business account so they should all work the same way...
