My email just stopped working and keeps asking me for a new password. I did not change my password!. Help please!

My email just stopped working and keeps asking me for a new password. I did not change my password. I can log in using yahoo mail on line & everything is fine but not with using the thunderbird platform!!! I have tried for about a week so sort this & nothing has worked. Can anyone help please?
