Pretend I am on "gmail.com" if I am on that screen and I hit ctrl+t to make a new tab in the new tab the search bar shows "gmail.com" also or whatever I had in the previous screen. I would like it so when I press ctrl+t and start entering a new address such as facebook.com, it is either blank or replaces the text in it already.

Right now if I am on "gmail.com" and I hit ctrl+t and start typing in "facebook.com" it will type "gmail.comfacebook.com".

Are you using the optional Search Bar, which is from the Customize palette?
Or the default Location Bar / URL Bar which has a multitude of functions?

Do you mean the search bar on the default Firefox Home page?
