Language problem -Thunderbird 68.10.0 for Linux Mint 18.3
The drop down menu for spell check in write contains many languages. The default for som reason is set to spanish (I don't even have a spanish dictionary installed. I need the default to be Swedish (the dictionary is installed and works when I select that language.) The only other spell checker I need is American English which also works when I select it. It's terribly annoying to have to manual choose the language every time I need to write something. How do I fix this

Ubuntu usually installs a lot of dictionaries (and language packs) by default, especially if you use the version from the repositories lke you appear to be using.
You can check these locations for globally installed dictionaries:
- /usr/share/hunspell/
- /usr/share/myspell/
See also the DICPATH environment variable.
There is no DICPATH in the environment. I did a recommended operation on the hunspell and those languages that I operated on are now in the myspell folder. I can't see the Swedish there but it does work after I chose it after opening the write window. I just removed the unnecessary languages from Mint using system settings but that doesn't seem to have any affect on Thunderbird. Should I just remove the entire contents of the hunspell and myspell folders??? Do I need to define an environment variable for DICPATH and if so what.
