For Sent emails, how do I see what delivery option(s) I had selected, such as whether I had sent it w Read Receipt? I just now went to an email I had sent a few days ago, and wanted to check if I had sent it with Options > Read Receipt selected, but I can't find where to view that info. I ran a test by for-sure selecting "Read Receipt" for an email, sending it, and then trying to be clever by doing a right-click on the sent email and selecting "Edit as New Message" to then be able to view that Read Receipt had been selected in the Options menu, but it wasn't selected. So that's surely not the way. It would be great if we could (1) Open the Sent email, (2) Select View, and (3) Select some sort of "View options selected" display to see what selections the sender had made. Maybe there's already a way to see the info that I can't figure out? Thanks.

If you had saved email as a 'Draft' because not yet finished then: Select draft email so it shows in Message Pane Click on 'More' and select 'View Source' This line:

  • X-Mozilla-Draft-Info: internal/draft; vcard=0; receipt=1; DSN=0; etc

Receipt = 1 means 'Return Receipt' selected.

After sending email: Select 'sent' copy of email so it shows in Message Pane Click on 'More' and select 'View Source' This line:

  • Disposition-Notification-To: email address

Means a request for a 'Return Receipt' was sent.

However, please note, just because you request a Message Disposition Notifications (MDN) aka 'Return Receipt' it does not mean you will get one.

You can set up settings to ask, but that does not mean it will always yield results.

There is also the 'Delivery Status Notification' DSN. I know you did not ask but.... Many mail servers ignore Delivery status notification (DSN) request these days partly as anti-spam mechanism. Some servers will also remove the 'Return Receipt' as they do not want users to send out additional emails. Even if the 'Return Receipt' gets through to the recipient, the recipient may turn off auto replies or choose to ignore the request.
