I have only 2 emails on Thunderbird sent to me so far today. What is possibly happening?

How could anyone else guess what the issue is. You apparently have no idea and are asking folk that have not got the details you have, or the benefit of sitting in front of your computer with access to things like network status to come up with a solution.
Perhaps you just did not get any emails yet today, is as legitimate an answer with the given information as any other.
