Hi there.

I have three different gmail accounts. It seems to be impossible to specify different Outgoing Server (SMTP) for each of them. Whatever I do, Thunderbird reverts to using the server designated as Default. The result is that the emails I send appears to be sent from another address.

So for example, if the Default Server is the one referred in the settings of account Z, all emails sent from Account X and Y appear as originating from Z. If I go to the settings of Account X and update the Outgoing Server details, all emails that I send from accounts Y and Z appear as having been sent from account Z.

Please note that this is a new behaviour. I have been using Thunderbird with multiple accounts and no problems since more than 15 years.

The problem appeared at some point when using the OAuth2 authentication became compulsory for gmail accounts.

It's confusing and infuriating.

All help would be welcome.

Thanks a lot,

C

I think ensuring the Description field for each of the three is different may resolve that.

Thanks David, but this does not solve it. At least not directly.

When I change the description in the account settings of one, the change is inherited by the others. It appears as if I change the description of the default server.

I am sure it is something I do wrong, since not everybody has the same issue, but I can't figure it out...

Possibly if you post a screenshot of all three smtp server settings, someone here can see the problem.
