Yahoo has INVADED my computer, email, etc. How can I go back to previous "update" of Firefox without Yahoo?

When I turn on Firefox now, Yahoo pages, Yahoo sign-ins, and full screen advertising come up instead of my email page. Sometimes as many as three sign-in boxes appear asking for me to create a new email account. A check box is available to "keep me signed-in" is present, but it never 'remembers' to do so. It takes much time for these pages to appear, thus slowing my computer considerably. Why this INVASION? I didn't choose Yahoo; I was happy with the previous setup. Neva

This week after the last 'automatic update'. (~September 1)

What was updated? Firefox 3.6.8 was released in early August, not around Sept 1st - plus Firefox program updates don't include any Yahoo garbage.

Some external Plugin programs, like Java, Flash, and QuickTime have started "offering" a search related addon like Ask and Yahoo; maybe that's how you picked it up.
