Latest Firefox update breaches security be installing unwanted app.

Firefox just updated itself on my PC. It then commanded me to install the Adobe Flash player update. Which is fine but the Adobe update also installed a McAfee app. I immediately deleted (uninstalled) the unwanted app after Adobe released my machine.

I believe this to be a security breach on the part of Adobe. What do you think?

I'm sorry to say that type of "optional" software installation by well known companies is becoming very common place these days. You have to be very careful when installing software and very carefully read installation dialog window and de-select that crap if you don't want it.

Totally confir with that answer, if you don't read what your installing and DE-SELECT what you don't want...and I have seen this particular one tell you about this.

Nonsense!

This puts the burden on the user not the vendor. It is up to Mozilla to police its plug in suppliers who participate with an update to play by the rules: install only the stated plugin with no 6 point checkboxes to deselect other garbage.

If the vendors do not regulate themselves, users will simply not update but stick with what they have.

Adobe is at fault here, but Mozilla played along. I have heard nothing from Adobe on the issue.

Sorry, it's not a "supplier" / "vendor" relationship between Adobe and Mozilla.
