I have a PC that is used primarily by 3 persons. Each of us speak different languages (Finnish, Dutch and Norwegian) English being the common language. Each of us would like to browse and have the meny-language in FF in our own languages. I'd like to customize each users accounts on Windows XP so that FF is the main internet-browser and that it then is in their own language on their accounts. In some cases it would be good to be able to change the browser-language also within a useraccount. I can't find this feature in FF (in Opera this is done in 3-4 clicks) So, how to do this customazation and language-change in FF?

Install the language packs for the additional languages available from http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.6.12/win32/xpi/

As you have the Finnish version of Firefox, the additional language packs are Dutch - nl.xpi, Norwegian (Bokmål) - nb-NO.xpi, Norwegian (Nynorsk) - nn-NO.xpi, and if you want English you can use en-GB.xpi

To assign a particular language, you can change a hidden preference:

  1. Type about:config into the location bar and press enter
  2. Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
  3. Locate the preference general.useragent.locale, double-click on it and change it to the code for the language, for example nl for Dutch

You can also use the Quick Locale Switcher add-on to switch between installed languages.
