I am not entirely sure what you are doing. Possibly you are in fact saving an email page as a webpage - even if that page happens to include a photo - try right clicking the photo of interest and saving that as a jpeg or whatever. See where it mentions saving parts of a web page Does that help ?

■ Are you able to save pictures from ordinary websites without problems ? Depending on your email system, you may find initially photos only show up as thumbnails, you may have to unzip or otherwise download the pictures themselves, before you can work with them.

Post back with how you get on, i am sure someone will help if you continue to have problems.

I have the same problem about All pictures from e-mails can be saved as fire fox document only, and not as a JPEG. I only have this problem in my email program (yahoo) and I try to save by right clicking and then clicking SAVE AS/ I do not have this problem if I open my mail using internet explorer

I do not use Yahoo, so others will give a better answer, but you probably need to download and maybe unzip the folder first. The photos will probably be in an attachments file or folder. Attachments are sometimes denoted with a paperclip icon.

I know for instance hotmail's webmail photo attachments tend to display as if they are part of the email, and can in firefox also be viewed as a slideshow from the email (think it may need a firefox addon to do that).

If Firefox doesn't add a valid image extension like .jpg then you have to rename the file yourself and change the file extension from .htm(l) to .jpg, either via the Save image file picker or the file on your hard drive.

Sometime clearing the cache will help to fix this issue.

I have this same problem, when I want to save a photo in an email.. just a regular old photo , nothing zipped.. it shows download.. then Firefox document and then when you go to the folder it can't be opened.. the only way for me to save a photo is to open up IE, log into my email, and save the photo..works fine.. I'd love to know how to fix this annoying time consuming problem.

Did not work for me. When I see the file via Windows Explorer, I double click on it and Windows Photo Gallery tries to open the file so I can view the picture, but is unable to read the format, even though the file is named xxxx.jpg or even xxx.jpeg!

Windows can be stubborn and may have added the .jpg before the .html making it .jpg.html
You can check that by opening the Properties of the file via the right-click context menu.

You can either enable hidden files and folders or add quotes around the name while renaming ("images.jpg") to make sure that you get a file with a .jpg file extension. Check that via the Properties.
