when i try to clear history, i press clear now, then ok, and it doesn't get cleared.
i went into tools-options-advanced-network and pressed 'clear now' then 'ok'. how do i know if all the cookies are gone? are my saved tabs supposed to be cleared as well? thank you

Instead use
- Tools -> Clear Recent history
- see Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox
That gives you several options to choose from. For more info on cookies see this and the links included in that page.
