I want to bookmark a website. I click Bookmarks on the tool bar and then bookmark this page. A field opens that allows choices under the heading "folder." I click on the downward arrow to see the choices: I choose the fourth option "Choose" expecting to see a vertical, alphabetical list of my folders. Instead I am given a choice between unsorted bookmarks, bookmarks toolbar, and bookmarks menu. No folders in sight. This started happening today In the past I was always able to select the folder for the bookmark.

There should be an arrow or + to the left of those folders to open them and see sub folders in them if there are any.

If you do not see those arrows then you can start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
