How to PERMANENTLY change search preference from Ask to Google
Have followed recommendation (about:config/keyword URL/delete Ask/add Google) for changing preferred search from Ask to Google. Works well for a while then always defaults back to Ask.

You need to figure out what you have installed, which is related to Ask or "search", that is causing that reset to happen - and get rid of it.

What kind of searches do you mean?
Via the location bar or via the (Google) search bar on the Navigation Toolbar or via the search bar on the about:home page?
