Sorry about that! That is not normal. Do you still see this problem if you restart Firefox with add-ons disabled?
mbrubeck, Thanks. I did try. I noticed the images @http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ takes longer to load, at times they do and sometimes after refreshing the page few times they seem to appear. Firefox 7 is slow- the tabs takes longer to load. I was complaining abt Firefox 6 but i would rather opt for previous version or try New browser Opera.
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

cor-el Thanks,
I think it has to do with Javascript.
Did read:http://kb.mozillazine.org/Images_or_animations_do_not_load The java console is incompatible with Firefox 7 how do i fix/enable this then?
I think its abt time Firefox has an option i the addons to roll back to previous version if one is not happy.
To avoid confusion: http://kb.mozillazine.org/JavaScript_is_not_Java
You can uninstall and remove Java Console extensions, you do not need them to run Java applets. The Java plugin that you see in Tools > Add-ons > Plugins is used to run Java applets.

Did you check your security software to be sure?
You can try to reset the preferences.
My Vista 64 bit machine is often VERY slow loading pages and gets worse the longer the browser is open (memory leakage). Many web pages load, but the circling loading arrow keeps going. Some pages load quickly and correctly - it is definitely a Firefox 7 browser problem.
P.S. I'm NOT going to do their trouble shooting by using the safe mode and disabling addons. FF needs to figure out which addon might be causing the problem - not me. No problem with the same addons on FF 3.6. Either it gets fixed, or back to IE/ Chrome when support to the working FF 3.6 stops.
