It crashes on start up. I am using Windows XP Service Pack 3. Firefox 7.0.1. It launches the crash reporter and then nothing.

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?

The module list in that crash report shows the TFWAH.dll (active in thread 1, so not in the crashing thread 0) mentioned in the Bug 642845 (ThreatFire AV 4.11) that is attached to that report.
So you can take a look at that software.
