Why is it that after I updated to Firefox 8.0.1 I have not only lost my bookmarks toolbar, but FF opens two tabs every time I open it?
After I updated to FF 8.0.1 I lost my bookmarks toolbar. Every time I open FF, the toolbar is missing; only the star and "Bookmarks" show up on the line, but everything else is missing. I can get it back if I uncheck and then recheck it in options.
Not only that, but now, when I open FF, it automatically opens two tabs, instead of one.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I have tried resetting my toolbars and opening in safe mode, but none of that has worked.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Localstore.rdf solution doesn't work.
I'm not getting the Firefox updated tab, I'm simply getting two tabs with my home page (which I don't have doubled in the general options, so it shouldn't be happening).
pref and user files are not read only.
Basically, none of this worked.
