Just read several news releases saying that the latest version of Java 7 update 7 has security flaws as well and recommends that Java users disable Java or go back to Java 6 update 35. To be honest I don't even know if I use Java. Anyway, can someone set me straight about this? Should I revert back to Java 6 Update 35 or just wait for the next Java 7 update and not worry about it?

First, if you don't use Java, just disable or uninstall it. Major security flaws are very frequent and so if you don't need it, disable it. If you find you do need Java, then I would do the following: Downgrade to 6 update 35 (or whatever the latest version is now), or stay on 7, but disable Java until an update is released.

Yes, it looks that it is best to disable Java for now until this is really fixed.

How do I know if I even use it?

Disable or uninstall it, and then use the web normally. Java is typically used in apps such as games (Pogo) or some built in website apps (calculators mainly). If you can use the web normally with it disabled, then you don't use it.

You can disable the Java plugin here: Tools > Add-ons > Plugins
