Have IE and each time I try to download Firefox IE "finds an error" and has to close
I had firefox but it went wierd so I removed it to download a new copy. I am using IE which I don't like Each time I click on the download it does not start even when I click on the link. IE then "finds and error' and has to close. IF IE is simply trying to prevent me downloading firefox how can I get it.

You can try these links (try to download to the desktop or your Documents folder). It'll also be helpful if you could post the exact error message:

You should download and install Firefox 16.0 that has been released today.
