We are using Firefox in a corporate locked down environment.

we have made a number of changes to files in the OMNI.JA file to configure Firefox accordingly.

We now have a newer version of firefox to install/package however, when we replace the default omni.ja file in FF 10.0.10 and go into HELP | ABOUT it shows the version number of FF that the omni.ja file came from, ie 10.0.4.

Which file(s) need to be replaced in omni.ja so that when we select HELP | ABOUT it shows the correct version of 10.0.10 ?

regards

Bill

hello biffal, which changes to the omnia.ja file have you done originally? maybe there's a better way to do it, because this file will be overwritten by each & every firefox update...

There are a number of files within it that we have amended for configuration.

We do not allow users to download updates, our estate is controlled via SMS delivered software packages.

Users dont have the rights to do any updates at all as we manage their platform.

Im sure there is a file or files that can be tweaked and I know it/they are in the Omni.ja file but I cannot find which ones.

maybe you can use the mozilla.cfg file to lock your configuration, then you wouldn't have to manually adapt the omnia.ja after every update. for more information see:

Hi we already do.

All im looking to find out is which file within the omni.ja file contains/holds the version number details that are displayed when you click HELP | ABOUT in firefox.

We have installed v10.0.10 but copied the preconfigured omni.ja file from v10.0.4 into the folder overwriting the default omni.ja file from 10.0.10 and its showing version 10.0.4 even though firefox is actually v10.0.10.

If I put the original omni.ja file back it then shows v10.0.10. So this would say theres a file within omni.ja that holds the version number.
