empty boxes instead of icons in bookmarks sidebar
How do I solve the following issue: Many of the icons in the Bookmarks sidebar appear as empty boxes instead of icons. When the empty box icons are clicked the appropriate web site opens and the icon reappears where it should be in the sidebar, then inevitably it changes back to an empty box. Thank you for your help. Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

Note that you need to revisit web pages by using the bookmark to make Firefox retrieve the favicon.
