I am writing an article about using inspector in Firefox. My latest Firefox uses the menu Web Developer --> Inspector to open inspector. However I notice that some older versions use the menu Web Developer --> Inspect. In which version did this name change happen?

That looks like this happened in Firefox 20 as the result of this bug:

  • Bug 788977 - [toolbox] Land the developer tools window

This is set via a string in this locale file:

  • resource:///chrome/en-US/locale/browser/devtools/inspector.properties
  • view-source:chrome://browser/locale/devtools/inspector.properties
