Trash folder gray, italicized, and not accessible

I have a 2nd IMAP account that I've been using successfully for years...then suddenly its Trash folder is gray & italicized, and will not accept deleted emails. I've tried everything suggested in this Forum, and nothing works...in fact, when I attempt to re-subscribe, I find that while the Trash folder is listed, there's no check-box, which means I CAN'T subscribe to it. Any ideas?

Well, suddenly everything was OK...I have NO idea why it went gray in the first place (it stayed that way for over a week, even through several restarts!), and am equally puzzled why or how it fixed itself. Thanks for your help anyway...all is well!
