Can Firefox be made to follow a Windows theme?
Greetings,
Following recent issues with IE, we have been advised to try a different Web browser. Firefox has been chosen.
I have made the migration fairly seemlessly.
My friend who is visually impaired has not. He uses a particular colour scheme (white text on black background) which he can see as part of his Windows Theme.
I.E. worked just fine - it takes the Windows Theme and gives him white text on a black background.
Firefox seems to ignore the Windows Theme. It gives him black text on a white background which he cannot see.
Would it be possible please to let me know if there is a way of making Firefox follow the selected Windows Theme?

- Under Options - Content, click the Colors button.
- Check "Use system colors".
- Uncheck "Allow pages to choose their own colors".

You choose a very unfortunate time to switch browsers, firefox is in a middle of a major GUI change. Try the previous version: Install an older version of Firefox that may help.
Also, firefox has its own theme, that's why it's not following the windows one, but there are a ton of available themes, and you can choose a good contrast one here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/themes/ There are plenty of white on black themes to choose from

With your advice and a couple of our own tweaks, my friend is up-and-running.
After 10 minutes of playing, his initial thoughts are that Firefox could well be better than I.E.!!!

Please don't direct people to insecure versions of Firefox. Downgrading would expose the computer to the following security vulnerabilities. Virtually all aspects of Firefox 28 that are gone or changed can be added to Firefox 29 with a single add-on.
Note that if you uncheck "Allow pages to choose their own colors" that this also hides background images and may cause issues in some cases where button only show as a background image or other page elements rely on background images.
You can use the NoSquint extension to set font size (text/page zoom) and text color on web pages.
And if you don't uncheck "Allow web pages to choose their own colors", then your colors aren't applied (they only apply to web pages that don't specify colors, and that's a very small number of them).
You can also use NoSquint to change the background and text color without affecting background images.
