Thunderbird spontaneously adds "important" tags
Hi,
since a few days, Thunderbird (78.11.0, x86_64, Linux, Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS) occasionally adds "important" tags to apparently random messages. Thunderbird uses IMAP SSL/TLS to access the mail server hosting the inbox.
In case, this matters: The same inbox is also contacted via IMAP SSL/TLS by my smart phone. However, I thought that the tags are "local" attributes which are not reflected in messages themselves, right? So I currently do not see how the smart phone could possibly be the root cause for the tagging.
BTW this also happens to messages in subfolders (which are not subscribed to by the smart phone).
I do not use any filters in Thunderbird, and also the filter log is empty.
Additionally, I don't believe that I inadvertently hit the '1' key that often (keyboard shortcut for tagging with "important").
Any suggestions how I can further examine what's happening here?
Kind regards Ingolf

Thank you, @sfhowes. I believe this is the very same issue. I have contacted my provider to check whether the automatic tagging is caused by the Nextcloud Mail App (which I don't use except in very rare situations).
(I'm sorry for not having found the other post while searching the forum for an answer.)
