I have 3 email accounts in Thunderbird, all with the same setting to NEVER delete emails. For some reason, on 1 account (Comcast) emails in my sent folder are being deleted after 1 month. It is very important that I save all sent emails! Thoughts on how to stop this, and/or retrieve previously sent emails? Thanks!

Thank you 'christ1'--I will dig into this article and see if it helps.

dig into comcasts deletion policy on sent mail IMAP is synchronized with the mail server so regardless of your settings, if the provider deletes mail then mail is deleted.

Thanks Matt. On a whim I decided to create a new folder to direct my saved mail to--and it seems to have stemmed the tide of deletion. I have 3 accounts--all with the same settings, and I still have no idea why this happened just for this one account, or why redirecting to a new folder as I did is seemingly effective. I also haven't been able to find any of the deleted emails (eg-my trash folder is empty) which is a bummer.

Thank you for the link, Toad-Hall! Matt had made the suggestion to review Comcast settings, but because I had stopped deletion by creating a new folder, I hadn't gotten around to following up and the link you sent helped. Somehow the deletion setting on one of my addresses had changed from Never to 30 days. The Comcast tech said it can happen sometimes with updates--which apparently happen randomly! so there is no way to know! He recommended checking email deletion settings every month or two (ridiculous). For whoever else may suffer from this--there is a 'retrieve deleted emails' option when clicking on the trash folder, however, trash deletion setting is for a max of 30 days--so I was only able to recover a few emails. Thank you again, christ1, Matt and Toad-Hall!
